Girl Scout “Snore & Explore” Water Water Everywhere!
Saturday September 13, 6:30 PM – 8 AM

Scouts $30 / Adults $12.50 / Troop Leaders FREE

Brownies and Daisies
Journey: Wonders of Water

Girls will discover the wonderful world of water by participating in hands-on water activities! They will learn
about the water cycle by creating a mini rain shower and study the differences between a typical water
filtration system and a natural wetland filtration system.  This program is designed to help girls with their
“Wonders of Water" Journey. Fee includes workshop, late night pizza, light continental breakfast, night
hike and exhibit exploration time. Event starts at 6:30 PM Saturday and ends at 8 AM Sunday.
Programming begins at 7:00 PM Saturday.

Girl Scout ratio is required for overnights. We require a minimum of 30 paid participants for the program
and a maximum of 50. Overnights may be cancelled if the minimum number of participants is not met.
If this is the case you will be notified at least one week prior to the overnight date.

Registration for scout programs closes one week prior to date.

Girl Scout “Snore & Explore” Who Dunnit??

Scouts $35 (Includes materials fee) / Adults $12.50 / Troop Leaders FREE

 

Juniors and Cadettes
Badge: Detective, Special Agent (Badge not included)

Someone has stolen KCDC’s prized fossils and it is up to the Girl Scouts to solve the mystery and capture
the crook! Spend the evening learning how to lift fingerprints, explore crime scene evidence, interview
witnesses, and work to solve the mystery before the night is over! Fee includes workshop, late night pizza,
light continental breakfast, and exhibit exploration time. Event starts at 6:30 PM Saturday and ends at
8 AM Sunday. Programming begins at 7:00 PM Saturday.

Private Scout Snore & Explore:

Private Snore & Explore overnights allow you to choose a date that works best for your troop.
All Snore & Explore overnights include workshop, late night pizza, light continental breakfast and
exhibit exploration time.

Scout groups must register with a minimum of 30 Scouts at least two weeks prior to a Snore & Explore.
We encourage partnering with other troops to fill an event. If you must cancel the reservation, you need to do
so at least seven business days prior to the Snore & Explore to receive a full refund. After seven business
days a 50% refund is available up to four days prior to event.

Girl Scout Workshop

 

Dia de los Muertos – The Monarchs Fly Home!
Legacy Badge – Naturalist (Badge not included)

Saturday Oct 18, 1-2:30 PM ($10)

Fun for Daisies too!

Join the Discovery Center staff as we explore the unique connection between the monarch migration and
Dia de los Muertos - Day of the Dead. Girl Scouts will learn about the annual migration to Mexico and their
dwindling forest habitat, participate in the traditional activity of sugar skull decorating and create a personal
“monarch” to take home or leave at the Discovery Center! Stay after to play in the Discovery Center.

Minimum 25 Girl Scouts.

Private Girl Scout Programs

Can't make it to a scheduled program? Private scout programs allow you to pick a day that works best for
your troop. Each workshop includes entrance into the Discovery Center and 1.5 hours of programming.
The minimum required for a private workshop is 25 scouts. Badges not included.

Available workshops:

- Home Scientist Badge Workshop (Brownies & Daisies)

Explore the different states of matter through a series of fun, silly and messy science experiments in
KCDC’s STEAM Lab! Create static electricity, dive into density and participate in other activities in pursuit
of the Home Scientist badge.  $10 per scout

- Sensational Senses Badge Workshop (Brownies & Daisies)

You have five senses that work together to let you see, hear, smell, taste and touch the world around you.
Try all five in this badge! $10 per scout

- Inventor Badge Workshop (Brownies & Juniors)

Do you ever wonder what it takes to come up with a new kind of phone or a new way to power a light bulb?
In this badge workshop, find out how inventors make stuff, become an inventor yourself and make your own
robot or room alarm! $15 per scout
